9 brilliant small garden ideas you likely have never seen

Here are a few brilliant garden ideas for those living in small and tight spaces. Perhaps the best part of all this is knowing that you can actually grow real plants -- flowers, vegetables, or herbs -- with actually having very little (or no) land. As Tiny Revolution puts it, "Almost any vegetable that will grow in a typical backyard garden can also do well in a container."
1. Recycled cans can be repurposed as planters and mounted on a wall. Paint the cans for a splash of color.

2. Tiny gardens don't need to be indoors. Recycle an old egg cup and egg shell, or just some old pipes like so:
These indoor gardens can be made into all shapes and sizes, perfect for any home.
3. Recycle a glass insulator and use as a planter indoors.
or a hanging one....
4. Use rain gutters as a planter on the exterior of your home. This is something that can easily be built into the side of any home.
In the image above, small veggie greens are grown. This lets you maintain a plant that you can then eat! Who doesn't love multi-purpose?!
5. Create a vertical herb garden indoors. Check out this awesome DIY tutorial
6. Mason jars also serve as sturdy planters -- indoors or outdoors. Can you image the below hanging in your kitchen? By having a hanging vertical planter, you make the most of that wall space which would otherwise go unused.

7. Of course, you can't go wrong with succulents. Succulents are very easy to maintain  (Just water once a week!), and don't take too much space. Grow these in a glass container. Glass will always make any room feel more airy, brighter, and larger than what it really is.
8. And if you are feeling really wild? Create this living wall of succulents.
You can even frame it as a piece of art!
9.  Pallet gardens for the win! See the tutorial here.  Pallets are cheap and can be found near supermarket dumpsters apparently! "No need to be squeamish. It doesn’t smell. At least, it doesn’t smell that bad," says Fern from Life on the Balcony
