Since family sizes aren't necessarily decreasing, homes, regardless of their size, still need to be able to hold all the family members comfortably. Increasing the number of bedrooms in a small home means that something else is smaller. The homes below have managed to place three bedrooms into less than 1,000 square feet (93 square meters) and still feel pretty spacious.

The Cozy Retreat puts three bedrooms and two bathrooms in 852 square feet (79 square meters) of space. All on one floor, the bedrooms are placed in the rear of the home. The master bedroom and master bath sit behind the kitchen, and the other bedrooms sit behind the living room. A large deck extends the natural living space so that the house doesn't seem too small.

With 998 square feet (93 square meters), this small home splits the three bedrooms. One bedroom with an adjoining bathroom is placed behind 464 square feet (43 square meters) of garage. The second bathroom adjoins the remain two bedrooms. The kitchen and living room sit in the middle of the home, separating the set of two bedrooms from the single. Keeping the space open between the kitchen and living room helps the home feel spacious.

The New American house clusters its three bedrooms at the end of the house opposite of the garage. With 996 square feet (93 square meters), the house is fairly spacious. The master bedroom includes a walk-in closet and master bathroom. The second bathroom is on the other side of the master bedroom. To give the illusion of space, the architect includes a large, open great room. This house also comes with an unfinished basement.

The Ranch-style home by EPlans has 998 square feet (93 square meters). It has three bedrooms but only one bathroom. All the bedrooms are on the far end away from the one-car garage. This home has a laundry room/storage room behind the garage.
5. Open floor plan by Home Plans.
Home Plans' open floor plan is 983 square feet (91 square meters). Its three bedrooms are situated at the back of the home, and the master bedroom has easy access to both bathrooms. The entire home is one floor, but this design has a two-car garage with 393 square feet (37 square meters) of space.

This traditional home gives extra space by creating 646 square feet (60 square meters) of finished basement that can be turned into a third bedroom and second bathroom. The first-floor living space is only 924 square feet (86 square meters) and has two bedrooms and one bathroom. If you choose to go with a garage, you would lose the option of the workshop and fourth bedroom.
7. Contemporary cabin by EPlans.
If traditional styling isn't for you, EPlans has a more contemporary plan. Its 950 square feet (88 square meters) has three bedrooms and one bathroom. This floor plan focuses on a large family room and deck space and groups the bedrooms together at one end so they can share the single bathroom. The deck and family room, along with lots of windows, makes this home feel nice and roomy.
