Step inside the beautiful Monarch Tiny Home

Monarch Tiny Homes offers movable homes for people who want to live "off the grid." Featured in the April 26, 2015, issue of Tiny House Talk, Monarch is building a new tiny home on wheels in San Ysidro, Calif. Monarch's site shares that the company offers homes called "Half/Half" that are just the outer shell, and the owners can finish the inside on their own. For those who don't want to undertake such a large project, Monarch offers the Twenty-Footer, a fully finished, 20-foot home on wheels.
According to Monarch, the Twenty-Footer is 270 square feet - 160 square feet for the main floor and an additional 110 square feet in the loft. The inside is stained wood, and all the lights are LED's.  Ladders give access to the lofts. The main loft is over the kitchen and bathroom, and the smaller loft is at the opposite end of the home.

All the appliances in the kitchen run on propane. A mini refrigerator, stainless steel sink and two-burner, steel cooktop make up the kitchen. The designers included extra storage space under the counter for dishes and pans.
Just inside the door is a built-in bench for sitting. Under the bench is additional storage.
A table for two lifts into place, and it folds down to store out of the way when it is not in use.
The designers made sure to include plenty of counter space for those who enjoy cooking.
Windows are strategically placed in the home to help keep it bright on the inside. The windows are made with low-e glass and have argon gas to act as the insulator between the panes.
A closet is built next to the bathroom.
The bathroom has a waterless, composting toilet. An on-demand, hot water heater is also included with the home.
The shower is fully tiled.
The main loft bedroom is above the kitchen and has a window that is great for stargazing at night.
Each Monarch home is built with insulated panels to reduce the cost of heating and cooling. The siding is made from reclaimed wood fibers and recycled plastic bottles, keeping the home "green." The fully finished Monarch costs $47,000 and "allows you to live off the grid," as Monarch puts it. This home was built for those who want both a home and the freedom to fly as a monarch does.
