According to the listing, the tower is located on castle property in the historic hamlet of Sanguineto, situated in the Umbrian countryside bordering Tuscany. The city is named for the battle of 217 B.C., fought between the Roman army and the Carthaginian army led by Hannibal. In sharp contrast to its bloody roots, Sanguineto in the 21st century is a peaceful enclave where farmers grow olives and wine grapes.
"The property has been luxuriously furnished using traditional building methods and materials combined with the latest technology," the Airbnb ad reads.
Visitors have access to a stunning garden, pergola, and swimming pool.
Downstairs, the circular room includes a quaint dining spot and kitchenette, where visitors can enjoy a traditional Italian breakfast of caffè latte and cornetto.
Beautifully detailed wrought-iron stairs lead to the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor.
Visitors can't help but fall in love with the countryside as they peek through the upstairs window.
Lounge by the pool and take in the scenery. According to the official website for Borgo Sanguineto, the area is surrounded by "unexplored" (inesplorati) villages where the landscape, culinary traditions, history, and art meld into one harmonious dreamscape.
To date, 71 visitors have stayed at the old tower. Reviews in English, Italian, French, German, and Chinese all echo one another, singing praise for the enchanting tower in an idyllic landscape.

One visitor, Joel of Sydney, Australia, perhaps best sums up the overall sentiment, "This place was truly magical!!! I cannot rate this place highly enough, the photos don't even do it justice! The furnishings, the view and of course the crazy and beautiful feeling of sleeping in a medieval tower! It is situated beautifully away from it all and this is a true Tuscan dream. This will be an experience you will never forget and Michele was a beautiful soul with true Italian hospitality — thanks so much for letting us stay at your little slice of heaven! This is what AirBnB is all about!"
